First Blog Post & Sneak Peek!
Share
Hi, I'm Jessie! Welcome to my first blog post!
As Dressie Jessie Smocking has grown, I decided it would be fun to have a blog where I could share sneak peeks, behind the scenes pictures, customer reviews, and whatever else fun comes to mind.
First, let me share a little about myself. My name is Jessie, and I'm married to my high school sweetheart, Rhett. We live in Hanover, VA (just outside of Richmond) and have 4 children: Nathan, Matt, Andrew, and Caroline.
My love of traditional, southern clothing goes way back. And, I mean way back! This was written by my mom in my "baby book" (remember when moms had time to write in those?!) back in 1982 (don't do the math, lol).
Okay, now you know I was a gumdrop in my 2nd grade play, lol. #goals
My sweet mom was perfectly content to let my little sister spend her days in sleepers and nightgowns. I can remember pleading with her to "dress her up!" Smocked dresses, matching bonnets... every day deserved a special outfit. All these years later, I still believe that. Seeing children dressed like children, especially when it includes sweet smocking, fun appliqués, or monogramming, just makes my heart happy!
The hashtag #letthembelittle is so popular, but so true. Time passes quickly. It seems like yesterday I was dressing Nathan, my oldest, in cute little jon-jons, and now he's a senior in high school.
Anyway, lots more to share about myself and how Dressie Jessie Smocking came to be, but I'll save that for future posts. For now, I'll leave you with a sneak peek of a very special Christmas dress that is coming tomorrow (Tuesday, October 18th). It will be in stock (yes!) and will go live on the website around 1:00 pm ET and then hit social media (Instagram and Facebook) Tuesday night at 9:00 ET. To tell you I'm excited would be an understatement!
See you back here next Monday! In the meantime, I would LOVE it if you'd leave a comment saying, "hi!"

Good for you, Jessie! I’ll look forward to reading your blog. The clothes are adorable.
Your Grandma (my Aunt Teenty) told me when you were quite small that you had the beauty and bearing of a model, glad you are fulfilling your dreams in the fashion industry!
I am so happy for you that you are doing what you love and were meant to do! If Maggie were little, I would be shopping next door! :). Best wishes to you as your business grows and grows!
I share that love of sweet smocks and appliqués, and adore seeing children dressed in them! My little girl loves her Dressie Jessie outfits we have!
Natalie, there are so many cute shoe options. If I had to choose a favorite, I think it would be FootMates!
Hi! I love all of your girls’ clothing! What are your favorite shoes to pair with knee socks and dresses? Thanks!
